Podcast #21 - Say It

The prompt was "falling through" and I had no idea how I was going to use it almost the entire time I was writing the song. Living dangerously. What I was focused on was writing a song about how I'm an aural learner. Ha! So romantic. Actually, the way we process information really affects our relationships and I've come to learn how much verbal communication is important to me for bonding purposes. And, not just with my husband and family but, with friends as well. Something else I've learned is that, in the absence of conversation with someone, the voice in my head will take over and have conversations for me. That's fine as long as "the voice" believes that all is good. But, if I'm feeling a bit insecure, the voice wreaks havoc! I'm sure this happens to a lot of people. If the voice in your heard is negative, you have to tell it to shut up from time to time. Kind of funny that last week's song said "you don't need to say it". Caution: I send mixed messages. :)

Say it

Can’t get used to the quiet. Never been good with silence

So unsure of the words I’m certain you keep hiding

Tell me I’m what you want and need to find

Maybe you don’t understand, I don’t have very much patience

All these thoughts in my head, fearful expectations

You show me love and ,baby, I am blind

Only your words could ease my mind

Say it, say it,

Tell me just how you feel , take the time

And say it, say it

Baby, now, don’t you leave your feelings undefined

Tell me what’s behind those eyes

I know we’ve been here before, baby, that counts for something

We keep reaching for more to keep that passion coming

If what I like is what you really need to know

Speak your mind, it’s music to my soul

Go on and say it, say it,

Tell me just how you feel , take the time

And say it, say it

Baby, now, don’t you leave your feelings undefined

Tell me what’s behind those eyes

I know it doesn’t make much sense

To someone as strong as you

But you leave me hanging in suspense

I’m afraid I’m falling through

Won’t you talk to me and take me down

I just want to hear you out

It’s everything to me to hear the sound

Say it, say it,

Tell me just how you feel , take the time

And say it, say it

Baby, now, don’t you leave your feelings undefined

Tell me what’s behind those eyes
